RIDGELAND, MISS. – Central Mississippi REALTORS® (CMR) announced it has been awarded two grants from the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), totaling $6,000, to support local efforts to create homeownership opportunities and strengthen fair housing education.

The $3,000 Housing Opportunity Grant and the $3,000 Fair Housing Grant will support CMR’s upcoming Fair Housing Double Feature, a special event focused on education around housing equity and ways to enhance the quality of life for all in the community. Scheduled for April 8, 2025, the event will feature nationally recognized speaker Nate Johnson, NAR’s 2024 Vice President of Advocacy, who will lead discussions on federal Fair Housing laws.

“REALTORS® help to build communities and advocate tirelessly to make the American Dream of homeownership attainable for all,” said Yolanda Parris, 2025 President of Central Mississippi REALTORS®. “These grants allow us to raise awareness about fair housing while exploring solutions to increase affordable housing options in our region.”

CMR’s Fair Housing Double Feature coincides with NAR’s new Fair Housing Action Plan, abbreviated as ACT—emphasizing Accountability, Culture Change, and Training to ensure REALTORS® uphold fair and equitable service to every client.

NAR offers Fair Housing Grants to state and local REALTOR® Associations across the country in an effort to support a wide range of activities and initiatives, including fair housing education and curriculum development, partnerships with local organizations, and commemoration ceremonies and events.
