Don’t Risk a $10,000 Fine

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality is performing random audits of local broker's offices; they are reviewing Lead-Based Paint disclosures.

Last week, your CEO visited with MDEQ's representative, Dennis Kelly, who exhibited at the MAR convention in Biloxi. If your transaction involved a property built pre-1978, read the instructions on the Lead-Based Paint disclosure word-for-word. MDEQ is fining brokers who fail to complete the form correctly. Incorrectly completed forms can result in a fine of $10,000 per form.
