There has been a lot of anxiety and frustration exhibited over the measures you all are having to take to comply with the new advertising rules that took effect July 1. Because you have had to go to a lot of lengths to become compliant, your tendency might be to scrutinize every sign, ad, and communication you come across to see if it is in compliance.
When you see one that might not be, rather than blowing the whistle with MREC, consider taking the high road. Consider communicating directly and say, “Hey Broker Friend, I noticed your agent’s name on the yard sign at 123 Main Street might not be in compliance with the new rules. You might want to check on that, and if you see one of my ads or communications that is not compliant, I would appreciate your letting me know directly.”
Make a conscious effort to treat each other with respect as we all get used to new rules.
