Showings in the New World

Showings in the New World

posted: 03/23/2020

Staff is hearing from members that business is good in this uncertain world. Sellers are listing, and buyers are looking. However, the environment of listing and looking is different, requiring new measures.

Sellers will be more apt to allow showings if buyers are pre-qualified. Sellers can deny access to potential buyers who are not pre-qualified.

As showing agents, keep hand sanitizer in your car and require clean hands before entering other people’s homes. Some listing agents require visitors to wear shoe covers they are providing inside the front door. Do not be offended by any of these requirements. Everyone needs to be careful and demonstrate safety measures.

As a listing agent, if your seller requires pre-qualification before showings, ensure the requirement applies to all potential buyers.

Counsel buyers, who have small children in tow due to school closings, to keep the children together and require respectful behavior; remember that sellers have cameras and can see ill-behaving children, which could make sellers reluctant to allow showings.
