REALTORS® Celebrate April National Fair Housing Month

(April 26, 2022) –Central Mississippi Realtors® will host Mayor Gene McGee, City of Ridgeland, on Tuesday, April 26th at 10:00am for a joint proclamation of April as National Fair Housing Month in celebration of the 54th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act. The proclamation ceremony will be held in the boardroom at 564 Sunnybrook Road in Ridgeland.

 

The Fair Housing Act is the landmark civil rights law, signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson, on April 11, 1968, that made discrimination in housing transactions unlawful.

Realtors® are members of the National Association of Realtors® and subscribe to a Code of Ethics mandating they provide equal professional services without to the race, color, religion, gender, disability, familial status, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity of any prospective client, customer, or resident of any community. 

 

Annually, CMR is required to recognize the Fair Housing Act of 1968. CMR provides its membership access to local training and education on how to avoid fair housing violations in practice and advertising.
